environment

Environment usually refers to human activities and the list of environmental issues can be long:

Climate change (global warming, fossil fuels, sea level rise, effects of the automobile on society), conservation (erosion, extinction, destruction, fragmentation), dams, energy consumption, genetic engineering, intensive farming, land degradation, soil conservation, nanotechnology, nuclear issues, ozone depletion, water pollution, resource depletion, fishing and overfishing, logging, mining, toxins emissions, toxic wastes and disposal….
Actually, improving environment could be summarized with consuming less and better, re-using and recycling in new products and energy.

New innovation and chemical processes are under development to help the society to save, and re-use, natural resources while improving the ambient air, water and soils qualities.

Today

As transportation, the Industry is also considered as a producer of local and global emissions.
Especially in the global CO2 emission reduction, the Industry must reduce their global CO2 emissions as was stated with the Kyoto protocol.
Optimization of the activities, CO2 captation and sequestration, CO2 re-use in supercritical process or chemical processes, etc… are under investigation.
In parallel, improving recycling processes, organization and collection will provide materials easy to re-use in other or similar applications.

Tomorrow

Using renewable energies and new chemical processes,

in combination with CO2 captation will open a new arena for production of added value Carbon-based compounds, such as nano-carbon tubes and powders than could be used for batteries, heterogeneous catalytic processes, pharmaceutical processes and advanced synthetic fuels production.
