Green building is the practice of increasing the efficiency with which buildings use resources (energy, water and materials) while reducing building impacts on human health and the environment during the building's lifecycle, through better sitting, design, construction, operation, maintenance, and removal.

Green building often includes measures to reduce energy use.
To increase the efficiency of the building envelope (the barrier between conditioned and unconditioned space), they may use high-efficiency windows and insulation in walls, ceilings, and floors. Higher efficiency appliances and other electrical devices lower direct energy use. “CO2-friendly” electrical power unit using stationary fuel cells with cogeneration, but also integrated renewable energy based power systems in the building design, open new views and routes in the global energy saving, waste reduction and reduction of the environmental impact of the building.
Wastewater from sources such as dishwashing, washing machines, and rainwater collectors...
can be re-used as is, or after a deep physico-chemical treatment, for potable purposes. Advanced chemical products use the sunlight or local UV-radiations to purify the wastewater or to improve the indoor air quality (in combination with adapted coating or painting). This process is currently used in water distribution circuits for hospitals and other sensitive environments. |
